We are a friendly, nurturing school situated in an amazing location right next to the sea and Mount Wise swimming pools. We are a part of the Learning Academies Trust (LAT) and enjoy the opportunity to collaborate and work with our other LAT schools. We have close links with Market Hall in Devonport and are proud to have been graded a good school in our most recent Ofsted inspection (2022). Mount Wise has its own nursery and classes from foundation to sixth grade. We are inclusive and welcome children from all over the city.
Children are at the centre of all we do. We have motivated staff who are committed to providing the very best care and education for each and every child, supported by our governors and the wider school community. We provide children with a solid foundation, equipping them with the values, skills, and knowledge they need to live successful, healthy lives.
We are an outward-looking, busy school that makes the most of opportunities and links with local businesses and partners. Thanks to their support, we have a Wacky Forest and are creating outdoor learning spaces for our children to access. Our Y5 are incredibly lucky to be involved in the Widening Horizons project offered by Millfields Inspired. They visit many different locations to find out about the world of work and the diverse range of jobs available in our city.
Our Breakfast Club
Our breakfast club is available for pupils of all ages at Mount Wise. It provides pupils with a selection of cereals, milk, water, crumpets, pancakes, and bagels. It is designed to support working families, provide a safe place for vulnerable pupils, and create a positive start to the day. Pupils eat together as a family and enjoy conversation in calm surroundings.
Our After-School Club
The Penguins After School Club is now open to all children in the main school.

- Ofsted rating: Good See the report for the school
At Mount Wise Community Primary School we embrace the fact that every child is different, and therefore, the educational needs of every child are different. Our SEND pupils are supported by a team of dedicated Teachers, Teaching Assistants and our experienced SENCo. We aim to create a safe, secure, stimulating learning environment in which all members of the school community can develop to their full potential. Staff regularly attend training to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge to support all pupils but especially those with SEND. The school works closely with Specialist Support agencies to assist with the specific needs of pupils. Families can also be supported by our Parent Support Advisor.
Plymouth uses an orange 'Local Offer icon' to show services that define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Plymouth's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
