My Mind, My Body, My Money: Family Wellness Day

The Community Youth Team took part in a Family Wellness Day at the Life Centre last weekend, focusing on how best to support the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. Our team was there showcasing what we offer as a Youth Service across the city and providing some fun activities such as pebble painting and badge making. Of course there were some amazing party dances done by the team as well.

Young Carers Day of Action: 12th March 2025

Young Carers Action Day provides an opportunity for everyone to call for better support for young carers and young adult carers and to bring about change.  Anyone can support Young Carers Action Day by posting on social media using #YoungCarersActionDay.

Young carers and young adult carers have so much responsibility on their shoulders. They need a break from caring to have time for themselves—maybe for a hobby or just hanging out with friends.

Plymouth University Free workshops and events

Plymouth University is celebrating the day by holding free workshops and events.

Join them for a day of free workshops and networking events this March for Young Carers Action Day, Wednesday 12th March.

A workshop hosted by Sarah Jones and Shoshana Jones will take place during either a morning or afternoon session:

Title: Missed Opportunities for Change—Why a Holistic Approach to Supporting Young Carers Matters

This workshop aims to provide a firsthand account of the complexity of the experience of young carers and the missed opportunities for family support. Sharing a case study of two young carers that spans over 20 years, the audience will hear from young carers' perspectives of what they needed from services at pivotal points in their caring experience. Focusing on the required support by education, the third sector, social care, and health care services, the workshop will allow the audience to collaborate and discuss practical ways that they could impact young carers with similar experiences, using a holistic approach to support. The workshop will also explore themes of bereavement and grief, caring for siblings and parents, and the importance of transitions for young carers and young adult carers.
