Our mission is simply to provide an outstanding education that ensures all pupils reach their greatest potential and live by life's highest values.

We provide weekly adult learning classes for parents and carers and aim to develop very positive and productive relationships with our community and families. Our 'Open Door' policy ensures that there is always one of our team members available to answer any questions or solve any problems that may develop. Marine Academy Primary is a place where the whole family can flourish and learn together.

Marine Academy Primary provides education for Pre-School to Year 6 and wrap-around care for our learners with a breakfast club starting at 7:30am each morning and an after-school club ending at 6:00pm each evening. The academy is also open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 during the holidays, providing a fun, safe, and secure environment for children to go to during breaks while their parents or carers are at work.

Marine Academy Primary and Nursery are a family where every child matters and every child will be able to evolve at his or her own pace, challenged to stretch and develop skills and competencies. The highly skilled and qualified staff team, along with Watson the Academy Dog, ensure that all children aspire to be the best they can be.

There will be no need to worry about the transition point when pupils move from primary school to secondary school.  Marine Academy Primary is part of the Marine Academy Plymouth (MAP) Campus, showing our commitment to improving educational outcomes for our community. Children will still need to apply for a place in primary school when in pre-school and for secondary school in year 6.

Marine Academy Primary Nursery and Pre-School

At Marine Academy Primary, we recognise that every child is special and that they will bring with them a range of unique experiences. We believe that children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential, and as such, we are proud to provide a friendly and safe environment in the Marine Academy Primary building that will enable them to do this in a stimulating and challenging way. In the nursery and preschool, enjoyment and fun are linked with exploration, discovery, and learning; the staff are sensitive and responsive to the individual needs of each child, and planning for learning is based on these needs.

Children can attend Marine Academy Primary in the nursery from 2 years old until the term after their 3rd birthday; after this, they will join the preschool.

In the nursery and preschool, we are committed to:

  • Providing a service of the highest standards that will develop and improve each child's educational experience
  • Respecting each child as an individual, taking into account their appropriate developmental needs, promoting equality and celebrating diversity
  • Ensuring that our service is in accordance with the latest standards for care and education
  • Ensuring that our staff are selected, trained and supervised to meet the needs of the children in their care
  • Managing our services efficiently and effectively
  • Valuing partnerships with parents or carers

We believe all children deserve the very best possible start and we aim to enrich the lives of all our pupils.

All children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are welcome at Marine Academy Primary. Full support will be provided to each child who has SEND requirements with well thought out strategies to overcome any barriers to learning. Marine Academy Primary is a fully inclusive school providing an outstanding and caring education so all pupils can achieve their potential.

Parents/Carers are fully involved and the progress of children with SEND is monitored towards meeting specifically identified goals and targets.

The Academy uses specialist strategies, which include a strong commitment towards training and developing all teachers and Teaching Assistants in their understanding of SEN to ensure that everyone is a 'teacher of SEN'.

Plymouth uses an orange 'Local Offer icon' to show services that define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Plymouth's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
