Roborough House works to maximise the independence of service users who have experienced serious brain injuries, or who have other significant neurological conditions which require high levels of specialist support.
The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide nursing and residential care. Care and support is delivered by a team consisting of nurses, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, an aromatherapist and a team of experienced support workers. In addition, a team of rehabilitation assistants work with service users on focused activities designed to promote independence and mitigate the impact of long-term conditions.
Roborough House is located in a pleasant suburb of Plymouth.
Nursing unit - long-term conditions
The unit focuses on mitigating the effects of degenerative, and other long term conditions which our service users experience. Care is person-centred, with the preferences, feelings and ambitions of the service user at its core. The unit provides a range of adaptations and specialist equipment to facilitate independence, which will be enhanced by an ongoing improvements programme. Service users have additional professional support from the in-house OT and physiotherapist, subject to agreed care planning.
Rehabilitation service
Working closely with local NHS services, this unit provides specialist support to help those who have experienced acquired or traumatic brain injury regain and maintain the maximum possible level of independence and functioning. Care is managed via a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, OT, physiotherapist, rehabilitation assistants and support workers. Once the rehabilitation programme is completed, service users may move on to other units at Roborough, to care facilities elsewhere, or return to their own homes with community support as required.
Residential care service
Service users who do not require specialist nursing support are accommodated in our residential care unit. This unit provides a lounge area, independent kitchen facilities, where service users are encouraged to prepare their own meals and snacks, and bedrooms, some of which have full en-suite facilities. Service users are encouraged to engage in local community activities as well as having access to those provided in Roborough House.
