Accommodation
All of our 40 purpose-built bedrooms are decorated to the highest standard with modern furniture, and all of the rooms are fully accessible via the lift.
Many rooms have far-reaching views across the valleys of Plympton and Dartmoor. Every room has a TV and a modern emergency nurse call system.
We offer competitive pre-bookable short-term respite care, which can be as short as 1 to 2 weeks. We provide 24-hour respite care for older people who need extra support following an operation or illness, renovations, or even if their regular carer takes a well-earned break!
We encourage residents to bring their own possessions and treasures—to turn their room into their very own home from home. We very much want our residents to feel relaxed, comfortable, and familiar with their surroundings.
Our housekeeping team ensures that rooms are cleaned daily, bins are emptied, and all rooms are supplied with fresh linen.
We also have a hydrotherapy room, which has a mobile hoist and is situated near the main lift. The room is wheelchair accessible and provides an invaluable facility for those requiring regular hydrotherapy sessions or simply a nice soak in the bath. Two wet rooms also provide the option for any guests who wish to have a shower.
Catering
Our onsite chefs have many years of experience and guarantee our residents a varied and healthy selection of wholesome, home-cooked meals every day. Providing three nourishing meals a day, along with snacks and a full drink menu, means that residents get choices—not only what they eat but when and where they want it.
All our ingredients are locally sourced, and we have a trackable 'farm to plate' policy. This provides us with the peace of mind that all of our meats and produce are ethically sourced and, where possible, are bought from local food producers.
Our daily menu caters for all dietary needs, including allergies and specialist dietary requirements. Any residents who require soft or pure food will also be provided with a colourful, individually formed plate of food, which encourages appetite and is representative of the food groups in appearance.
We understand not every resident may choose or be able to eat in the dining room; therefore, meals can be enjoyed in their rooms, with assistance given by our team of well-qualified HCAs.
Recreation and social activities
We believe that recreation and social interaction can boost a person's well-being, as well as provide companionship and meaningful activity.
Our Activities Coordinator encourages residents to take up new hobbies, join in with games in the afternoons, and is on hand to organise functions and day trips.
For those residents who like a social life, we can provide outings, including shopping trips, visits to local areas, and group events.
We love to celebrate a birthday, and we don't need an excuse for a good party or cake.
Equally, if reading or playing cards is more for you, then our peaceful conservatory may suit you better. There are plenty of quiet areas within the building, each with adequate lighting and space for quieter moments.
Nursing
Our highly experienced and dedicated team of nurses and support staff provides 24-hour care, 365 days a year. Our quality of care standards, as set by the CQC (Care Quality Commission), are continually delivered, and we aim to surpass expectations year upon year.
Medical staff ensure care plans are regularly monitored, and frequent meetings with residents and relatives ensure that everyone is involved when it comes to the running of the care home.
The nursing team liaises with outside agencies, and this provides us with close working relationships with local GPs, social services, pharmacies, and local health centres. This cohesive arrangement ensures that all medical services and facilities required by residents are clearly accessible.
We are very proud of our Six Steps + Accreditation with St. Luke's Hospice, which we have consistently maintained for many years. This accreditation focuses on quality end-of-life care and evidences our ongoing commitment and passion for palliative care.
