The needs of a child or young person are at the heart of the services we provide.  This means we involve them and their family in discussions and decisions about the ways we can help them achieve the best outcomes.

We work hard to identify challenges that our families are experiencing as early as possible so that they can be supported at the earliest opportunity, and we work closely with a wide network of healthcare professionals and social and voluntary organisations to help us ensure that you get support when needed.

We provide a wide range of services to help our children and young people stay well and live healthy lives, including services to help and support children and young people affected by mental illness.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) promote the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people. We also help children, young people, and families with significant, severe, complex, or persistent mental health and/or relationship difficulties. This could include self-harm, eating disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Children's Speech and Language Service

The Children's Speech and Language Service provides preventative and early help for children who, for a variety of reasons, may be experiencing difficulties communicating. Some children are then offered a more detailed assessment and treatment.

Because we provide social care as well as health care and adult mental health services as well as children's, our teams work together to provide a range of essential support services for families when they most need them.

Healthy Child Programme

We deliver the Healthy Child Programme, which starts with the advice and support of health visitors before a baby is born up to 5 years old to give that child the best start in life, and by school nurses up to the age of 19.

Ten Wishes

We work together with colleagues in other organisations to keep children and young people safe. The Ten Wishes came out of our safeguarding work. Young people told us how they want health and care professionals to engage with them. We are making sure that everyone at Livewell Southwest knows what these wishes are and how we can deliver them in our work with young people and families.
