Children have a right to enjoy, achieve, and take an active part in their own learning. Teachers and support staff have a right to teach and feel job satisfaction.

We aim to work mutually with parents and carers to meet a child's distinct needs. The Governing Body works effectively as a strategic "critical friend,"  both supporting and challenging school policy, practice, and improvements. Victoria Road Primary works with The Tamar Folk Children's Centre, Early Birds Nursery, and other agencies such as health, police, social care, the voluntary sector, and higher education to share our knowledge and language about teaching, learning, and child development.

We have important links with Child Adolescent Mental Health, the Primary Care Trust, the National Health Service, and safeguarding agencies.

We aim to have a consistency of practice underpinned by the Every Child Matters principles and a broad but balanced curriculum provision as we strive to provide the full core of service provision. We look forward to constructive comments either on the Guest Book or in the Compliments Box in school in the main foyer. We welcome you to our school environment and hope you enjoy the place as much as we do.

Our Nursery

At Victoria Road, we offer high-quality nursery and preschool education. We are a happy and caring provision that caters for children from two to four years of age.

The nursery is the first stage of education for children aged 2 years old. The next phase is pre-school for children aged 3 and 4 years old. Sessions are overseen and led by a qualified teacher, supported by an early-years-trained HLTA and teaching assistants. We have a lovely, bright, and airy space with plenty of room for all our children.

The children have access to a secure outdoor area, which they are able to access on a daily basis. We are also able to utilise school facilities such as the school hall and the library.

The EYFS, which includes both the nursery and reception classes, works closely together to prepare the children for an excellent start to school.

Qualifying two-year-olds and every child from the term after their third birthday is entitled to 15 hours of free nursery funding a week. In addition to this, eligible working families are also entitled to claim up to a total of 30 hours of funding.
