PL6 Learning Hub
The PL6 Learning Hub is suitable for children who do not access mainstream school due to anxiety or loss of self-esteem. Under the guidance of qualified and caring professionals, the learners engage in small group face-to-face interactions as a way to learn with confidence and rebuild the social skills they need to re-enter mainstream education.

Who is PL6 Learning Hub for?
P16 Learning Hub is a multi-functional, fully resourced classroom space for delivering mathematics, English and STEM subjects for primary and secondary age children.
It works through small groups (a maximum of 6 students) using learning spaces, which can be rearranged to suit any session required. The main input is delivered by a qualified teacher using a 65-inch interactive whiteboard, and then the children can rearrange their learning space to suit how they want to work so they feel comfortable. There is a beanbag breakout area for discussion, and tables can be moved to where they feel at ease. The teacher can then facilitate their learning in a relaxed atmosphere. Each child has access to an iPad, and work is differentiated to enable each child to progress. The classroom has toilet facilities and kitchen facilities onsite should they be required.
By visiting the Hub for their lessons, children do not lose the experience of travelling to and from their place of learning and maintain the parental engagement and support that helps them deal with their anxieties and build the resilience needed to return to mainstream education.
Why PL6 Learning Hub?
While working alongside children with high anxiety and special educational needs in their own homes over the past 2 years, a pattern was identified: an increasing number of children are withdrawing from mainstream education, then engaging in one-to-one learning before regressing into online sessions and eventually disappearing into their rooms using their phones or their computer as the only means of communicating with their peers. As the children's social skills deteriorate, it becomes harder and harder to reverse the cycle and get them back into mainstream education. There is clearly a genuine need for a learning environment where children feel safe and can access their learning directly with an understanding teacher, yet have enough room to learn the way they want to learn. As a result, I created PL6 Learning Hub, where children can access their learning and socialise with teachers and students face-to-face in order to overcome their anxieties and rebuild their love of learning so they can return to mainstream education.
What sessions are available?
The Hub delivers tutoring in English, Mathematics and science at both primary and secondary levels. Other subjects can be taught because the Hub has access to a wide range of curriculum subjects. Preparation sessions for GCSE English and Mathematics can also be taught.
