Victoria Road Nursery

The nursery is the first stage of education for children aged 2 years old. The next phase is pre-school for children aged 3 and 4 years old. Sessions are overseen and led by a qualified teacher, supported by an early-years-trained HLTA and teaching assistants. We have a lovely, bright, and airy space with plenty of room for all our children.

The children have access to a secure outdoor area, which they are able to access on a daily basis. We are also able to utilise school facilities such as the school hall and the library. 

The EYFS, which includes both the nursery and reception classes, works closely together to prepare the children for an excellent start to school. 

Our Nursery Ethos

Victoria Road Nursery aims to provide a warm and reassuring atmosphere where children are encouraged to participate in a range of activities that aid in the development of their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social abilities.

We feel that by providing a stimulating environment where learning is fun and rewarding, your child can feel secure, valued, and confident while developing a sense of achievement while working towards their full potential.

We understand that play is an important part of a child's development. Playing helps brain development and helps their language and communication skills mature.

Victoria Road Nursery caters for children aged 2-4 years and is located within the grounds of Victoria Road Primary School.

We have a large integrated room that caters to the different age groups and individual developmental needs. We also have a small room that is used for short group times and quiet activities. Victoria Road Nursery is equipped to provide areas for specific use:

• an area for sand, water and messy play
• quiet areas for reading, puzzles, and games
• activities for intellectually developing the child
• a large, spacious area for role play
• construction activities
• floor games.

We have a large play area outside, featuring a mud kitchen, play house, tunnel, and much more, for the children to explore.

All the activities we provide at Victoria Road Nursery are structured around the seven areas of the EYFS. (Early Years Foundation Stage).

Each child will have their own online learning journal on Tapestry that documents their learning experiences and is shared regularly with you, providing a base for discussing their next steps.
