CHICKS is a registered charity which provides five day respite breaks for children aged between 8 and 15 years old who are living in difficult or deprived conditions and will not of had an opportunity to have another break in that year.

The breaks are situated at our three retreats in Tywardreath in Cornwall, Brentor in Devon and Derbyshire which provide the opportunity to have some fun with peers of their own age and build upon their self-esteem and confidence. Our week long breaks give children a chance to get involved in a number of new, exciting activities and experiences.

We live by our own signature - giving the children the Gift of Hope, teaching the children that they can achieve anything and reach what may seem like impossible goals.

We cannot cater for children who require 1:1 attention or those who require wheelchair access.

CHICKS respite breaks are free. However we cannot cover the cost of transport to and from the child's home. We will collect the children from an agreed pick-up point place, from which point the break is free until the Friday collection point.

Price: No charge
Based: Devon

Office hours: 8.30-17.00 Mon-Fri

Time of day: Evening, Afternoon, Morning

Session Information Respite Breaks run from mid-Monday to mid-Friday (February to December)

In order to refer a child for a free CHICKS break a professional who works with the child will need to complete the Child Referral Form which can be found on our website. Click 'Submit Form' after completion. Once we have received your form a member of the Coordination Team will then call you to discuss the child's case in more detail and suitable break dates will be discussed. Professionals refer to children to CHICKS for many reasons and situations; from being young carers to those who are living in poverty, subject to abuse, and any other situation that causes the child to have a tough time at home.
