Proud To Care in Plymouth
Proud To Care is a regional campaign to encourage more people to consider working in health or social care.
There are many opportunities for working in health and social care in Plymouth.
Care and support work is about supporting adults of all ages including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, dementia and mental health.
This includes helping people to:
- maintain their independence at home
- live in residential or nursing care homes
- be part of their community
- It can include personal care, assisting with domestic jobs, involving people in social activities, helping people access services in their community or liaising with a care home resident's family.
You need to have the right values to work in care and health - care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment - so the adult being supported is at the heart of the care they're receiving.
Employers provide essential training and offer support to gain recognised qualifications. The qualifications are work-based and recognised by all employers within health and social care.
