We offer an exceptional chance to focus on science, technology, engineering, and math subjects integrated with core national curriculum studies. We also aim to ensure all students realise their ambitions in engineering while paying careful attention to preparing young people for their financial future in both work and life.
Housed in a new contemporary building, our science, technology, and engineering facilities are unrivalled in the local area. The pride of our school is our workshops, which boast industry-standard equipment, revolutionising how we teach our students. You will be part of a mature learning and training environment that represents a place of employment in character, capability, and ethics. In turn, we will create the industry's work force and leaders of the future.
The curriculum is delivered through a combination of hands-on workshop experiences, classroom activities, and industry-led challenges, with the aim of offering clear progression routes into employment, apprenticeships, higher education, or further learning at work. With small class sizes and good relationships between staff and students, we're able to develop a better understanding of our students needs and, therefore, offer the best support possible.

The UTC will work closely with previous schools to ensure that the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator(SENCO) and/or Head of Year meets with each child during admission to the UTC. As a part of this arrangement schools share information with us, part of which includes SEND information, assessments and their results. Once at UTC Plymouth, children complete standardized CAT's tests, the results of which are shared with staff to aid appropriate teaching and learning in the classroom. If a child needs further help, concerns should be raised by parents/carers or teaching staff and the SENCO will become involved as necessary; further assessments may then be carried out. Your child's teachers will also look at the assessment data of all pupils each time it is collated and any concerns will be discussed with the SENCO.
Plymouth uses an orange 'Local Offer icon' to show services that define themselves as suitable for children and young people with SEND. These are part of Plymouth's SEND Local Offer. We recommend that you contact the service provider to make sure the service is suitable for your child or young person.
